



LO Attire and Sportswear Guidelines
Important Notice:
Tracksuits may be worn with LO attire during the winter months, on days when learners have LO. Only plain White/Black sneakers/tekkies are permitted with the tracksuit.
LO Dress Code:
Black or Maroon T-shirts, Vests or warm-up tops may be worn underneath the LO shirt.
During summer learners may come to school barefoot when wearing LO uniform (Friday wear). The Suikerbos socks with white/black sneakers/tekkies may be worn with the LO uniform.
In winter, the official school tracksuit, white/black sneakers/tekkies, and Suikerbos socks may be worn with the LO uniform.
Learners who have earned provincial colours may wear their provincial attire to school on the last Friday of each month.
Match day arrangements and attire will be communicated in advance by the relevant sports coordinators.

CIVVIES:
GIRLS:
- Hair must be in a pony tail
- No short dresses, skirts or shorts are allowed
- No short or tight tops are allowed
- No torn or ripped shirts or t-shirts
- No torn or ripped jeans, shorts or pants
- No high heels
- No excessive jewellery are allowed
- No stretch pants or leggings are allowed
- Underwear must not be visible (including bra straps)
BOYS
- Hair may not be gelled
- No torn or ripped shirts or t-shirts
- No torn or ripped jeans, shorts or pants
- No jewellery
HAIR – BOYS:
- Hair must be short and neat. No steps, mohawks, comb overs, dread locks, afro’s, table top hairstyles or mullets are allowed.
- No dyes or styling products like gel or mousse are allowed.
- The latest fashion trends are acceptable if approved by the principal and staff and if it is presented neatly and in an acceptable way.
ACCESSORIES – BOYS:
- No accessories are allowed!
- Plastic bands will be cut.
HAIR – GIRLS:
- Bows, scrunchies and hair bands in school colours are allowed, i.e. maroon, brown or beige. It must be small.
- No decorations like pearls, beads, flowers or diamonds are allowed.
- If the hair touches the collar, it must be fastened. No loose hair in the face or neck.
- Fringes must be short and neat.
- No dyes or styling products (wet-look) are allowed.
- No hair slides, rubber bands with figurings or gold or silver adornments are allowed.
MAKE-UP:
- No make-up are allowed (foundation or maskara).
- No nail polish on fingernails or toenails are allowed – not even clear polish are allowed.
NAILS:
- Nails may not be visible past the fingertips, when hand palms are turned upwards.
JEWELRY:
- No bracelets are allowed (it will be confiscated and locked in the safe to be collected at the end of the term).
- Plastic bands will be cut.
- Only one signet-ring is allowed.
- Only small gold or silver ear studs are allowed. No diamond/coloured earrings are allowed.
- Lapel badges must be related to school activities e.g. Sport, cultural-or academic badges.
- No pendants are allowed underneath or with the school uniform.
- No visible belly-button rings are allowed.
- No jewelry is allowed for boys.
